FHS 175 – Drama Queens

March 27th, 2009

Drama Queens was initially slated to be Flophouse Session #118 – they played the final night of last year’s BiB residency. Alas, I didn’t have time to finish mixing it in time, one thing led to another, locusts, etc..

But it’s worth the wait! They are looking for a new drummer, so hook ‘em up!

  1. Several Hours
  2. Don’t Trust White Men
  3. Drama Queens
  4. Trim True

FHS 174 – Blastronauts

March 22nd, 2009

When we last saw the Blastroanuts, it was two guys.  It appears their numbers have since doubled. Be sure to check out their larger configuration this tuesday at Harper’s Ferry, as well as their live appearance on WERS that same day.

Tonight’s live podcast is CANCELLED

March 14th, 2009

Hey all – if you were planning on checking out the live Everday Visuals session tonight, bad news. We had to cancel at the last minute due to illness. We’ll reschedule it once the guys are patched back up!

FHS 173 – Action Painters

March 12th, 2009

Further proof that Brooklyn has more amazing bands than should be allowable by law, Action Painters brings along some of the catchiest tunes we’ve heard in a while.  You would forgive them for overproducing the hell out of them, but they show their further good judgement by keeping it stripped down to the basics.

Song list:

  1. How Could it Be So Wrong
  2. Sooner or Later
  3. A Moment’s Peace
  4. Easy 2 Pretend
  5. Supermarket
  6. We Don’t Need to Live Like This
  7. Never Say I’m Sorry

FHS 172 – The Press

March 11th, 2009

The Press came in many many moons ago for their first session, and took their sweet time getting back to town. Luckily for us, they didn’t make us wait nearly as long to put out their latest.

We’re pretty sure Jen’s coffee cake convinced them not to be strangers.

They are at TT the Bear’s TONIGHT!

Song List:

  1. Pattern Mill
  2. Master
  3. Fine China
  4. Jellyfish Wrangler
  5. Panther Beach
  6. Roc, Wraith, Heartbeat

FHS 171 – Hands and Knees

March 6th, 2009

Hands and Knees came back for their second visit. We streamed it live. Here’s the audio. A lot has changed in the Flophouse since they last visited, and H&K’s has changed too. Definitely a less toned-down set than  last time.

Their new album, Et Tu, Fluffy? Comes out soon on Midriff Records. They’re at PA’s on march 14th, River Gods on April 28, and Great Scott on April 30th for their big record release party. Go see them every time!

Song List:

  1. Throw Me From the Bridge of Flowers
  2. Hot Little Item
  3. Sitting at the Piano Disappearing (1st time ever played!)
  4. You Got Pop, You Got Style
  5. You’re Getting Harder of Me, I’m Getting Softer on You
  6. Do You Look at Everybody That Way?
  7. Midnight in the Applefield
  8. Pop That Thang (by Missy Elliot)
  9. Shove it Up Your Heart
  10. You Thought it Make You Feel Better
  11. Do You Really Need a Drummer?
