FHS 254 – The Press

June 1st, 2010

Stopping by for their third session (check out their earliers here), Brooklyn’s The Press continues to be one of those “Why doesn’t EVERYONE know about this band?” kinda bands. In our humble opinion, their brand new album, INTEOTWIJTEOAE (listen closely and you’ll know what it stands for), finally does justice to the intricate patchwork of rhythms and melodies that almost don’t seem to make sense when taken separately, but combine to make some of the most original and yet accessible songs to come out of New York in a long time.

Song List:

Kentucky 05:10
2.
3.

4.
Samhain 01:47

FHS 172 – The Press

March 11th, 2009

The Press came in many many moons ago for their first session, and took their sweet time getting back to town. Luckily for us, they didn’t make us wait nearly as long to put out their latest.

We’re pretty sure Jen’s coffee cake convinced them not to be strangers.

They are at TT the Bear’s TONIGHT!

Song List:

  1. Pattern Mill
  2. Master
  3. Fine China
  4. Jellyfish Wrangler
  5. Panther Beach
  6. Roc, Wraith, Heartbeat

The Flophouse Sessions 131 – The Press

December 10th, 2008

God we love this session. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve mixed, remixed, restarted, and mastered this one. Every time I read about some new mixing technique, I find myself trying it out on The Press. I’ve completely ruined it a few times, but I think I’ve dialed back the insanity and ended up with a nice recording of an incredible band. Can’t wait to see them next time they’re in town.

Song List:

  1. The Kindly Woodcutter
  2. I Still Make
  3. Fist Face
  4. Pineapple Rabbits
  5. End of the World
  6. Twang A Lang
  7. Sotesso
  8. Milgram’s Pilgrims
  9. Krab Teeth
